BIMBISARA OF MAGADHA (600 BC-530 BC)
Bimbisara was borned in 600 BC, at the house of King Bhatta of Harranka dynasty. Bhatta was the vassal king of Anga. King Bimbisara first succeeded his father at Anga at the tender age of 16, and he thenafter carved out Magadha Janapada, as a vast kingdom the same was being transformed into Magadhan Empire, thus he established a royal house for his Harranka house. King Bimbisara died while he was engaged in a battle against scythian tribes. King Bimbisara had a Queen Kosaladevi and two sons with three daughters. Abhayakumar was the crown prince and elder son of Bimbisara, who lost his life while fighting against Anga Janapada.
,....... King Bimbisara respected the customs and religions of the lands he conquered. This became a very successful model for centralized administration and establishment of a government working to the advantage and profit of its subjects. Bimbisara lost his beloved Queen on 21st March 538 BC. Magadha officially mourned the loss of Queen for six days. Bimbisara lost his life against the scythian tribe of border region in 4th December 530 BC. At this time his son Kunika nee Ajatshatru was busy with struggle against Kosala janapada.
,........ King of Kings Bimbisara was buried at Rajgriha hill royal burial complex in the capital city of Magadha. It was Grivaraj founded by King Bimbisara. Bimbisara was the contemporary of historical lord Buddha and lord Mahavira. Buddha died in 527 BC. The punch marked coinage shown below were being used during the reign of Bimbisara in Magadha as a merchant's currency and the same was being in circulation through the trading and merchant communities those had migrated and colonized the coastal cities of Near East. The coinage were of Asia Minor of Cilician silver.
